“Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Harass the Midianites, and attack them; for they harassed you with their schemes by which they seduced you …….”[Num 25:16-18]
As I read this portion of this scripture this morning, my mind began to soar on the words. Every temptation that came my way, were harassments? What is an harassment?
Harassment can be described as bullying, coercing or using threatening or disturbing activities to cause someone to do something.
So these temptations, what led you to steal, to tell that lie, what led you to sleep with that girl, or harbour those adulterous thoughts of that boy, were you bullied into doing or thinking them? For all the temptations that I fell into, were they my decisions, or was I troubled to do them? These questions flood my mind. But to some extent I do agree. Haven’t you realised that some thoughts just pervade your mind and it gets so difficult to get them out of your mind? Some desires could literally inundate you so much so, that you feel so disturbed, so distressed and uncomfortable ….. until you commit the sin. And when you do commit the sin, it begins to control you, it orders your life and soon becomes your lifestyle. Now is that not more than harassment? That is
