“That sermon is not scriptural!!!”
“Celebration of Christmas is not biblical”
“Sunday worship is pagan worship”
And the list goes on and on.
We are in a time of higher learning. Everyone is getting more studious these days since information can be made so close to you due to the vast technologies available.
Today we have bible apps, concordances, books, etc that one can read to enrich their biblical knowledge.
Biblical Knowledge: one of the greatest cause of the increasing number of denominations we see today. A whole sect of christian group can emerge due to their understanding of a particular verse in scripture. Check out the debates, the articles, the arguments of doctrinal discrepancies and differences and you wonder if the bible is really “what God handed over to his people”
Oh! Did you hear that the 66 books of the bible are not the only books? There are other books which were not added and these books are highly important. Now some people indicate that some of the stories of Jesus from 13yrs to 30 have not been recorded in the bible but can be found in some other religious books.
The word of God is meant to give us direction so we can walk in God’s plan for us. Why is it the same tool dividing us?
It is therefore important that each individual Christian knows the bible for himself or herself. But the problem arises when we begin to interpret some portion of scripture differently, then we all begin to drift away and form denominations.
But after all our discussions, arguments, expositions and expatiation, let us relax and pay attention to this word:
The difference between Christianity and all other groups out there is that, our God gives us revelations- uncovering of mysteries- of His word.
And how does God do that? Through His Spirit in us!
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth [John 16:13]
All truth! All truth? So is there some truth?
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known [1 Cor 13:12].
So now I know in part. I read that verse and I didn’t get all of it. I got some truth. But the Holy Spirit will lead me into ALL truth of that verse. Either now, or some time later.
Opinion. That word. The bible has been so much rendered into people’s perceptions and opinions so much so that today, we hear Pastors preach their opinion. But is God looking for our opinion of His word or our Obedience. Understanding and obedience.
The Holy Spirit is our helper to help us understand and help us obey the word of God. We should not leave Him out of the equation.
So now this is my walk
I study His word and His Spirit reveals the hidden mysteries. If I don’t understand something or if I get any conflicting explanation to what I know or understand, I ask the Holy Spirit to give me understanding.
I ask Him to lead me into ALL TRUTH.
